Commerce reveals rice imports under the ASEAN Free Trade Area are for processing only. It is not sold as rice. It is not allowed to bring in rice to be resold as seeds as is concerned.
By importing rice under AFTA, permission must be obtained from the subcommittee. before it can be imported and will only be allowed to be imported for processing in the food industry. This does not include the milling of rice for example to make noodles. making rice flour, etc., as well as specifying the time period for importing to not coincide with the time when the domestic rice production is released. The importer must have the qualifications as specified in the announcement. Not anyone can import it. There is also intense scrutiny from the sub-committee. Both before importing and checking that the import is strictly for the purpose for which processing permission was requested. In addition, there are other laws related to importing rice, such as the Plant Quarantine Act of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives.
